Your Favorite 80’s Dance Song

I’ve been taking an informal IM poll today: What is your favorite 80’s dance song?

Some answers:

  • It Takes Two – Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock
  • Blue Monday – New Order
  • Don’t You Want Me? – The Human League
  • Mony Mony – Billy Idol

Some backup choices (because who can pick just one):

  • You Shook Me All Night Long – AC/DC
  • Fight The Power – Public Enemy
  • Push It – Salt-N-Pepa

No Soft Cell? No Prince? What about Vanilla Ice?

OK OK I get your point. But this is pretty pop heavy. How about metal? Wasn’t the 80’s the metal decade? Was none of it danceable?

I had a couple of those, but if you want more Metal dance stuff:

AC/DC – Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Aerosmith – Dude (Looks Like A Lady)
Def Leppard – Photograph, Rock Of Ages, Pour Some Sugar On Me
Guns N Roses – Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child ‘O Mine
Motley Crue – Girls Girls Girls
Quiet Riot – We’re Not Gonna Take It

…and, yes, I’m a “pop”-kinda guy

also, I had an error above:

Venus was done by Bananarama
Bangles did “Walk Like An Eqyptian”

typed the list too fast!

The eighties and early nineties blend together in a haze for me alas… I confess that Madonna’s, um, ouvre, songbopok, etc, is what stands out. “Material Girl” “Vogue” etc etc.
