OK so my flirtation with the $6.99 range of sauces continues with Sauces N Love Organic Pesto.  Here’s the thing: you can buy these for $6.99 each at Whole Foods, or you can buy them 4/$21 or so at Amazon.  Scarpetta is the brand name there.  They look to be the same, but maybe there’s some difference.

First things first: this is pretty damn good pesto.  It has a great flavor, and a great smell.  Loved that part of it.

But c’mon.  Although the distribution through Amazon might feel like a victory, that combined with the Scarpetta name brand confusion makes me question whether this $6.99.  It’s definitely better than your garden variety $3.99 pesto.  But $6.99?  Probably not.  I’ll be interested to try the arabiatta sauce from them to see if I feel differently.

And about the container: are they bisphenol-a free?
