Yeah, that whole boxing analogy was überlame, and you could tell that David Cook was not really that into it. My husband laughed so hard that he nearly fell backwards out of his Barcalounger when the announcer boomed, “… and now, David Archuleta, weighing in at 100 pounds…” America would have been better entertained by an additional song performance rather than by this ridiculous charade. Also, last night rocker Amanda was clearly not into all the group sing-a-longs, probably because many of them were so cheesy. Reminded me of some really bad Academy Awards night song medleys. Props to Brooke and Graham Nash, though, for a poignant rendition of “Teach Your Children.” Yeah, I cried; I’m a total wuss for stuff like that. And, by the way, AMERICA GOT IT RIGHT!!! I am stunned, in a good way, that David Cook actually won!
Yeah I thought you would be happy with Cook. I’m pretty happy (and very surprised!) about it too–he’s actually got some hope of still being relevant in a year.
I hope young Archuleta didn’t get beaten too bad by his dad for losing (wait–does that imply I hope he got beaten a little????). I thought he actually had a pretty good night–the Elton John song he sang really was great.
One problem I have is that now any time I see someone crying on stage I think they’re pulling a total Hillary and I feel manipulated. I have no idea what was real. I’m sure it was emotional for them, but tears — “Live, On Stage” — now just bring out my cynicism.
